A typed apology loses nothing essential if the care behind it survives being typed.

The medium matters less than whether the thought made it through. A handwritten note is not automatically sincere and a typed message is not automatically lazy, though we often treat the effort of the format as a stand-in for the feeling. What counts is whether the apology names the thing accurately and takes the weight.
If you owe somebody an apology, send it in whatever form gets it said today rather than waiting for the impressive version. Be specific about what you did. A plain typed sentence that admits the thing beats a beautiful card that talks around it.
