The greatest friend of truth is time; her greatest enemy is prejudice; and her constant companion is humility.

REFLECTION
Truth tends to win slowly and lose quickly. Given enough time, what is actually the case surfaces, since reality keeps producing evidence and errors keep failing; what blocks it is the settled view held in advance, which filters the evidence before anyone looks. Humility keeps that filter open, because it is the willingness to be found wrong. Those three move together in almost any question worth arguing about.
When you are certain and impatient, you have two of the three working against you. Slow down and name the view you brought with you before you assess what is in front of you.
What do you expect time to prove that arguing cannot?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
