Wise men are instructed by reason; men of less understanding, by experience; the most ignorant, by necessity; and beasts, by nature.

WHAT THIS MEANS

Learning comes with a price list, and it rises steeply. You can take a thing on reasoning, which is cheap, or wait until it has happened to you, which costs more, or wait until no choice is left, which costs most of all. Everyone uses all three at different times. The useful question is which lessons you are currently insisting on paying full price for.

Pick one warning you have been given and have quietly declined to act on. Work out what it will cost to learn the expensive way. Then take the cheap version now, while it is still available.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What lesson did you need to be forced into learning?
