Men show their character in nothing more clearly than by what they think laughable.

— Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

What a person laughs at is harder to fake than anything they say. Laughter comes out before the editing does, and it shows what they consider beneath them, what they find absurd, and who they are willing to see humiliated. Opinions can be borrowed for an audience, but the thing that makes someone laugh is theirs. Watch it and you learn more than an hour of conversation would give you.

Pay attention this week to what makes the people around you laugh, and to what makes you laugh. If a joke you enjoyed depended on someone being made small, that is worth sitting with.
