It is a madness to make fortune the mistress of events, because in herself she is nothing, but is ruled by prudence.

REFLECTION
Calling an outcome luck is often a way of not examining the decisions that produced it. Chance is real and constant, but it mostly works on a surface someone prepared, rewarding or punishing choices made carefully or carelessly long before. Treating events as purely fortune’s doing removes the one part you could have influenced. It feels humble and is actually a way of looking away.
Take a recent result you have been filing under bad luck and find the two decisions inside it that were yours. Not to blame yourself, only to see what is available to you next time.
Where did you blame luck for a failure of planning?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
