A wrong-doer is often a man that has left something undone, not always he that has done something.

— Marcus Aurelius

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Harm is done by omission as much as by action. The call not made, the correction not offered, the person not defended, leave marks too, and are easy to overlook because there is no moment to point at. Nothing happened is not the same as nothing was owed.

Run through the past week and look for the thing you did not do rather than the thing you did wrong. Usually one comes straight to mind. Doing it late is almost always better than not doing it, and the lateness matters less than you think.
