Every one excels in something in which another fails.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Ability is distributed unevenly and in odd shapes, so the person who is hopeless at what you find easy is very likely better than you at something you have not tested. Comparing whole people is therefore mostly wasted effort, since the result depends entirely on which task you happened to choose. Everyone is somebody’s expert and somebody’s beginner.

When you are tempted to write someone off, find the thing they are good at and ask them about it. In a team, put people where their odd strength happens to be the requirement. And be honest about the areas where you are the one being carried.
