Patience is a remedy for every sorrow.

— Publilius Syrus

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Sorrow is not usually solved. It is outlasted. Time does not remove what happened, but it changes the size of it relative to everything else, and that change is too slow to feel from inside a bad week. Patience here means giving yourself the length of time the thing actually needs, not the length you think it should need.

If you are in the middle of something hard, you might set the question of when it will lift to one side. Keep the ordinary structure of the day where you can. That is not a cure, only a way of being carried while the change happens.
