CREATIVITY
Unusual work tends to come from people who are unusual in other ways too, and the same traits that produce it often make life harder for them. Obsessiveness, an inability to let a question go, indifference to what others find normal: these are useful in a workshop and costly everywhere else. Suffering does not produce good work, and plenty of excellent work comes from very steady people.
If you are the odd one in a room, the oddity is probably doing some of your best work rather than obstructing it. Build a life around it rather than filing it down. And treat the cost as real, because it is.
Which odd trait of yours drives your best work?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
