Labor disgraces no man; unfortunately, you occasionally find men who disgrace labor.

— Ulysses S. Grant

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

No honest work is beneath anyone. Whatever the job is, doing it carries no shame; the shame, when there is any, belongs to the person who does it carelessly, dishonestly, or with contempt for the people it serves. The dignity travels with the worker, not with the title on the door. Plenty of prestigious work is done disgracefully and plenty of unglamorous work is done beautifully.

Notice the moment you catch yourself ranking a person by the work they do, and stop the thought before it finishes. Then look at your own week and ask which parts you are doing badly because you have decided they are beneath you.
