Imagination is not a talent of some men but is the health of every man.

CREATIVITY
Framed as health rather than gift, imagination becomes something everybody has and can lose rather than something a few people were issued. It is the ordinary capacity to picture things being otherwise, which is what makes plans, sympathy and hope possible at all. When it dims, life narrows to what is immediately in front of you, and that narrowing is a state a person can be in, often brought on by exhaustion, grief or illness, rather than a fixed trait.
If you cannot currently imagine anything being different, treat that as a sign that something needs care, not as the truth about what lies ahead. Rest and something unfamiliar in the week can help when the cause is depletion, and when it runs deeper, it deserves the same attention as any other part of your health.
When did you decide you were not the imaginative type?
