When the obvious answer is unavailable, thinking finally gets interesting.

As long as an obvious answer exists, thinking is unnecessary and everyone converges on the same place. Its removal is the point at which real thought begins, and the results from that phase are the ones worth having. Difficulty is where the interesting work lives.

When the standard approach is unavailable, treat that as the beginning rather than the end. Give the problem real time before concluding it cannot be solved.
