Power is not revealed by striking hard or often, but by striking true.

— Honoré de Balzac

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Force spent widely and often usually signals insecurity rather than strength. Real influence comes from accuracy: one well-chosen word, one decision at the right moment, one objection raised about the thing that actually matters. Constant pressure wears people out and teaches them to tune you out, while precision gets noticed because it is rare.

Think about where you tend to push hardest. Are you pressing many points in the hope that one lands, or naming the single thing that would change the outcome? Next time, hold back until you are sure of the point, and then make it once, clearly.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where do you spend force when precision would serve you better?
