Expertise is built from thousands of corrected misunderstandings.

Expertise is often imagined as accumulated knowledge, when it is closer to accumulated correction. Each time you were wrong about something specific and found out, your model got slightly more accurate, and thousands of those adjustments are what produce judgment that looks like intuition from outside.

Seek out the corrections rather than avoiding them. Work where you find out quickly that you were wrong. That feedback loop is the whole mechanism, and comfortable environments do not provide it.
