Integrity without knowledge is weak and useless, and knowledge without integrity is dangerous and dreadful.

— Samuel Johnson

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Good intentions are not enough on their own. Someone honest who does not understand a situation can do real harm while meaning well, or simply fail to help when help was needed. And expertise in the hands of someone willing to deceive is worse, because it makes the deception effective. Each quality needs the other to be worth much.

Consider which one you tend to lean on. If you rely on meaning well, the gap may be learning; if you rely on knowing things, the gap may be whether you would still act rightly when nobody could catch you. Most people are stronger on one side.
