When you play, play hard when you work, don’t play at all.

— Theodore Roosevelt

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A lot of the tiredness in a working week comes from doing two things at once badly: half-working through an evening off, half-resting through an afternoon that needed concentration. Neither state delivers what it is for, and the day ends with no rest and nothing finished. Separating them cleanly is less about discipline than about getting the value out of both.

Put a hard edge around one work block this week with nothing else allowed inside it. Then take an evening where the work is genuinely closed rather than merely nearby. Judge the experiment by how you feel on the second day, not the first.
