Problems become smaller once their parts stop hiding inside the whole.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

A big problem tends to present itself as one solid mass, and the mass is what makes it feel unmanageable. Once you separate the parts, you usually find several small pieces you can handle, one or two genuinely difficult ones, and a few that turn out not to be problems at all. The size was mostly an effect of everything being tangled together.

Take whatever is weighing on you and write out its components in plain language. Do not solve anything yet. Just seeing the list usually shrinks the thing, and it tells you where the actual difficulty sits.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which worry would shrink if you broke it into parts?
