Truth is beautiful, without doubt but so are lies.

REFLECTION
Attractiveness is not evidence. A false account can be more elegant than a true one, and often is, because it was designed to please while the truth merely happened. That is precisely why the well-shaped explanation deserves more suspicion than the awkward one, not less.
When something you are told fits perfectly, pause on the fit itself. Ask who benefits from your believing it, and whether the messy details have been smoothed away somewhere. Reality tends to come with loose ends, and an account with none has usually been tidied by somebody.
Which pretty falsehood do you find hardest to give up?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
