Some wisdom you must learn from one who’s wise.

— Euripides

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Certain things cannot be reasoned out alone, however bright you are, because they were paid for in experience you have not had yet. Books get you part of the way; the rest arrives through proximity to somebody who has already made the mistakes and can tell you which of them matter. That is an uncomfortable dependence for anyone who prefers working from first principles.

Name one area where you have been figuring it out solo for years. Find a person further along, ask a specific question rather than a general one, and be willing to hear something you did not want to hear.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Who could teach you something you keep trying to figure out alone?
