Work is the price which is paid for reputation.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A reputation is a lagging indicator. It reports what you did some time ago and cannot be bought forward, though people try, through positioning and announcement, and the gap between the claim and the substance shows up in the one place that matters, which is when somebody actually relies on you. Paying in work is slow and it is the only currency accepted.

If you want to be known for something, spend less time on how it gets described and more on the next piece of work. Let one good result be discovered by somebody else rather than announced by you.
