Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.

— Henry David Thoreau

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Measured this way, being rich has less to do with what you own than with how much of your own life you can actually take in. Someone with a great deal and no attention left over is poorer than someone with little who still notices the morning. The account is kept in capacity rather than currency.

That framing can sting when money is genuinely tight, and it is no argument that your worries are imaginary. Still, among the things already within reach today, ask which ones you have stopped tasting out of habit rather than lack. Reclaiming one of them costs nothing and is not a consolation prize.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

If money bought only experience, where would yours go?

Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
