A life of leisure and a life of laziness are two things. There will be sleeping enough in the grave.

— Benjamin Franklin

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Rest chosen on purpose and time lost to drift are different experiences, even though both look like doing nothing from outside. One returns you to yourself, the other leaves a faint residue of having missed something. Intention, rather than activity, is what separates them.

There is also a nudge about time being finite, which you can take lightly or seriously depending on your week. Try planning your rest as deliberately as your work, with an actual afternoon set aside rather than the leftovers. Rest that was chosen restores far more than rest that merely happened.
