What you make can outlive what you are. A face, a body, a particular grace of movement belongs to a season and leaves with it, while a made thing keeps working on people long after the maker has stopped. That is not a reason to think less of the body, which is the only place you get to live. It is a reason to put some part of your attention into what can be handed on.
