A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.

— Oscar Wilde

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Seeing early is lonely work. If you find your way by something dimmer and stranger than what everyone else is using, you arrive by a route nobody can follow, and you reach the obvious hours before it becomes obvious to the people around you. The reward and the cost turn out to be the same fact. Being right ahead of time feels almost exactly like being wrong.

If you are sitting on something you can see and cannot yet explain, hold it without needing to win the argument for it. Write it down with the date on it, and let the others come to it in their own time.
