The best emergency response often began on an ordinary Tuesday months earlier.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
The response that looks impressively fast in a crisis was usually assembled slowly and unremarkably beforehand. Someone chose to run a drill, learn a system, or build a relationship on a day when it mattered to nobody. What reads as composure is mostly the visible tip of forgotten ordinary work.
When you admire how someone handled a hard moment, look for what they did months earlier rather than what they did that day. Then ask which ordinary Tuesday you are currently in, and what small thing would be worth doing in it. You will not be able to tell at the time which one mattered.
What ordinary work today would matter enormously in a crisis?
