There is no value in life except what you choose to place upon it and no happiness in any place except what you bring to it yourself.

— Henry David Thoreau

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Nothing arrives with a price tag already attached. A job, a town, a Saturday afternoon: each is worth what you decide to make of it, and the deciding is quieter than it sounds. Waiting for a place to hand you contentment tends to end in moving again. What you carry in with you sets much of the tone before the place gets a say.

Rather than hunting for better circumstances this week, test it where you are. Take one ordinary part of your day and give it your full attention. Notice whether anything shifts when you meet it that way rather than waiting for it to earn your interest.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What are you expecting a new place to fix for you?
