To be prepared is half the victory.

— Miguel de Cervantes

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Most of what decides an outcome is settled before the moment arrives. Preparation is not a guarantee, but it removes a whole category of failure: the kind that comes from being surprised by something you could have seen. It also changes how you perform, because a mind that is not scrambling has room to notice what is happening.

Take the thing you are dreading and name the three parts of it you can settle in advance. Write the opening line, check the route, learn the two facts you would hate to be missing. Then let the rest be uncertain, because it will be anyway.
