That twist you feel when somebody else gets something is information, not a character flaw. You do not get jealous about things you genuinely do not want. The sting shows up precisely where you want something and have not admitted it, sometimes not even to yourself.

Next time it hits, hold it long enough to ask what exactly you want here. Not their whole life, the specific piece. Then write down one thing that moves you a step toward that piece.
