When you slack off on a team, somebody else pays for your break.

Work on a team does not disappear when you skip it, it relocates. Someone notices the gap and covers it, usually without saying anything, and usually the same person every time. That is why it can feel like nothing happened. The cost was real, it just landed somewhere you were not looking.

Find out who has been absorbing the slack, because there is almost always a specific person. Take one thing back off them this week and tell them you have it. Being reliable gets noticed far more than being talented.
