If you never change your settings, you’re living on somebody else’s defaults.

RESILIENCE
Defaults are decisions somebody made for an average person who is not you, usually for reasons that suited them. Because they arrive invisibly, they never feel like choices, so they escape the scrutiny you would apply to anything you picked yourself. Notifications, bedtimes, who you sit with, the route you take. Most of an ordinary day runs on settings nobody chose deliberately.
Pick one default this week and change it on purpose, even if you change it back. The point is finding out that it moves. Most of what feels fixed turns out to be adjustable.
