Going viral is fifteen seconds you might spend fifteen years explaining.

Attention at scale is indiscriminate, and it does not distinguish between the version of you that made the thing and the version you become afterwards. Anything that spreads gets separated from its context within an hour, and then it belongs to strangers. The upside is short. The record is long and searchable.

Before posting something with reach, ask whether you would be fine explaining it to someone who found it in five years with no context. If not, that is the whole answer. Reach you cannot recall is worth less than it looks.
