Real life has plot twists too. Most of them were foreshadowed.

Very few surprises are actually sudden. Looking back, the signs were usually present and just not weighted properly, because they were small and easy to explain away one by one. Hindsight does not give you new facts. It removes the reasons you had for discounting the ones you already had.

When something feels slightly off, write it down somewhere with the date, without concluding anything. A few entries in the same direction is a pattern rather than a mood. Noticing early does not make you cynical, it makes you harder to blindside.
