Stop giving circumstances more authority than they actually possess.

Circumstances constrain and rarely determine. It is easy to grant them total authority, because that makes the situation simple and your part in it minimal, but the grant is usually generous beyond the facts. Most constraints have more give in them than they appear to from the inside.

Test one limit you have been treating as absolute. Ask what would happen if you pushed at it slightly. You may find it was a habit of description rather than a wall.
