End goodbyes like they count. Most are ordinary, right up until one isn’t.

Most goodbyes are completely ordinary and will never be remembered by anyone. A few turn out to be the last one, and there is no way to know which in advance. That is not a reason to be heavy about it, just a reason not to leave on a half sentence or a slammed door. A proper goodbye takes about four seconds.

Look up and actually say it this week when you leave the house or hang up. If you are on bad terms, end the call with something you would not mind having said.
