Roasting each other in the group chat is fun until nobody can tell who’s joking and who’s hurting.

Roasting works while everyone is equally in on it and equally protected. It stops working quietly, usually for one person first, and the chat has no way of showing you that. Text strips the tone that would tell you, and the person laughing along may be doing exactly that, laughing along.

Check in privately with whoever has been the target most this week. Ask once, properly, and believe the answer even if it is given lightly.
