When plans fall apart, creative people are already sketching Plan B before the dust settles.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

A collapsed plan is a constraint that arrived suddenly, and constraints are something creative work handles all the time. The useful move is getting to the new situation quickly rather than spending the first hour on how things should have gone. People who do this are not calmer by nature. They have simply had enough plans fall apart to know the second version usually exists.

When something falls through, give yourself a short fixed time to be annoyed, then ask what is still possible with what you have now. Write three options, even bad ones. Choosing between three things you invented feels different from having something happen to you.
