Some pieces are just bridges. They exist to carry you to the one that matters.

Not everything you make is supposed to be good. Some of it exists to teach your hands a move, or to get an obsession out of your system so the next thing has room. Judged on their own, those pieces look like failures, when the whole job was getting you to the far side. You cannot usually tell which one you are making while you are in it.

When something you made disappoints you, ask what it taught your hands. Then start the next one that same week, while the lesson is still warm.
