Your parents might not get your art. That doesn’t mean it isn’t good. It means it isn’t theirs.

Taste gets built out of whatever people grew up surrounded by, and your parents built theirs somewhere else, in a different decade with different music and different rules about what counted as serious. Not understanding something is not the same as it being bad. It usually means the work was made for a room they have never stood in, which happens with every generation.

Stop auditioning for approval that may not come in that shape. Find one person who does get it, even online, and show them instead. Let your parents love you without needing them to love the work.
