Creative block is usually an empty tank. Go take in something new before you try to put something out.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

A block is usually an input problem rather than a failure of talent. Making things burns through whatever you have taken in, and once that runs low you keep trying to produce from nothing and read the silence as a fault in yourself. Nobody makes much out of an empty week, and no amount of sitting there longer refills it.

Go and fill up on purpose. An exhibition, an old album, a long book, a part of town you never walk through. Pick something outside your own field, and do not demand that it be useful while you are there.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What new thing could you take in before making again?
