Risk being underestimated publicly while becoming undeniable privately.

Being publicly underrated while quietly getting very good is a strong position. It costs some ego in the short term and buys you time to build without scrutiny, and eventually the gap between perception and reality closes in your favour. Rushing to correct the underestimation usually costs more than it gains.

When you are dismissed, resist arguing and spend the energy on the work instead. Let the record accumulate. Being underestimated is uncomfortable and it is not the same as being harmed.
