Canceling people is easy. Restoring them is holy work.

Cutting someone off takes four seconds and feels like justice. Rebuilding with a person who messed up is slow, unglamorous, and requires being near them while it is still awkward, which is why hardly anyone does it. Calling that holy work is not an exaggeration, since it is what God keeps doing with people. Some should not be let back in, and protecting yourself is not the same as holding a grudge.
Think of someone the group decided about months ago. Ask whether they have changed while nobody was watching. One normal conversation is usually the entire first step.
