God doesn’t need your help to be God. He wants your company.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

God is not short-staffed. A lot of the pressure people carry about being useful comes from a quiet fear that the whole operation depends on them performing well, which turns faith into a job with a review attached. Nothing you accomplish adds to Him. The invitation was never mainly about labor, it was about being around.

Try a week where some of your time with God carries no request and no task. Walk, sit, talk about your day the way you would with a friend who has time. Notice how uncomfortable that feels if you are used to earning your place.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Would you spend time with God if nothing needed fixing?
