Stillness isn’t doing nothing. It’s letting God do something without your interruptions.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Stillness gets mistaken for laziness because nothing visible is produced during it. What is happening is that you have stopped intervening long enough for God to move without being corrected. Most of the time your hands are in it, adjusting, checking, trying to hurry an outcome along, and the constant handling is its own kind of noise. Stopping is a decision rather than an absence.

Take ten minutes where you fix nothing, plan nothing, and ask for nothing. Sit there and let the urge to be useful pass through. It will feel like wasted time for the first few minutes, and that feeling is not evidence of anything.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Do you fill silence because stillness makes you uneasy?

Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
