Gratitude doesn’t change the picture. It changes the lens, and suddenly there’s more in the frame.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Noticing what is good does not alter your circumstances, and anyone who claims it does is selling something. What it alters is how much of your situation you can actually see. Difficulty crowds the frame, so the parts that are working get cropped out, and then the edited version becomes the one you believe.

When things are hard, try widening rather than reframing. Not a list of reasons it is secretly fine, which nobody believes, just an honest inventory of everything present, bad and good together. The problems stay exactly the same size. They simply stop being the only thing in the picture.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What would you notice in your day if you looked wider?
