Time is the one thing nobody has spare amounts of, so when someone spends it on you without being asked, the spending is the message. Nothing gets announced. The detour, the early alarm, the waiting outside in the cold all say you matter to them without anyone having to say so.

Think of who did that for you lately and mention it plainly. Not a speech, just naming the specific thing you noticed. Then look for a chance to spend that kind of time on someone else.
