Reliability includes recovery.

LEADERSHIP
Being reliable is usually understood as never dropping anything, which no one manages. What people actually rely on is the whole cycle, including how you handle the thing you dropped. Someone who misses and then addresses it quickly and honestly is far easier to depend on than someone who rarely misses and goes silent when they do.
When you let something slip, treat the recovery as part of the job rather than as damage control. Say it plainly, say what happens next, and then do that. Trust survives failure much better than it survives evasion.
How do you make good on a commitment you already dropped?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
