One good book won’t give you all the answers. It’ll just change which questions keep you up.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

A good book is not a delivery of conclusions. It rearranges what you think is worth asking, and you close it with fewer certainties than you opened it with, which feels like a loss and is not. Better questions are how people actually move. Answers handed to you by someone else tend to sit still.

After the next book you finish, write down the question it left you with, in one sentence, on the inside cover or in your notes. Then find your next book from that question instead of from a list. Your reading will start to feel like it is going somewhere.
