Build with tomorrow’s unknown person in mind.

Whoever uses your work next will not have your context, your conversations, or your reasons. They will have only what is actually there. Building with them in mind means putting the reasoning where they can find it and not relying on knowledge that lives only in your head or in the memory of people who happened to be present.

When you finish something, imagine a competent stranger arriving in two years. What would confuse them? Answer that in writing now, while it is still obvious to you. It stops being obvious sooner than you expect.
