You don’t need more motivation. You need fewer escape routes.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Motivation is weather. It shows up sometimes and cannot be scheduled, which makes it a poor thing to build a plan on. What reliably decides behavior is how easy the exits are: the phone within reach, the option to do it tomorrow, the fact that nobody would notice if you skipped. Remove enough of those and the work happens on days when you do not feel like it, which is most days.

Close one exit this week. Phone in another room with the door shut, kit packed the night before, a person expecting you at a specific time. One closed exit beats an hour of psyching yourself up.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which escape route could you close off starting tomorrow?
