Feedback isn’t an attack. It’s a free consultation.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

The body reacts to criticism as if it were danger, which is why the first thirty seconds are useless for hearing anything. Underneath that, most feedback is information about the work, handed over by somebody who spent their attention on it instead of scrolling past. Some of it will be wrong, and wrong feedback still tells you how the thing is landing.

Ask one person this week for one specific piece: what is the weakest part of this. Then say thank you and nothing else, no defending, no context. Decide later what to use. Not replying is what makes people willing to tell you the truth next time.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Whose feedback did you brace against instead of writing down?
